Hey y’all,

How cute is this bell-sleeved floral shift number?! I’m not going to lie. From the moment I saw this dress on Courtney Quinn from ColorMeCourtney, I knew I had to find it and copy her look! I did, in fact, shamelessly do just that within 24 hours of the package arriving at my door, even down to her adorable crown braid! For this post, however, I wanted to style this dress with more autumnal hues, and show how I rework some of my favorite all-season accessories into a fall look.

Retailer

If you don’t know, Lulus.com is an online retailer, who’s content is similar to Forever 21’s contemporary line, and often is where I can find a larger range of trendy pieces marketed toward women in their mid to late twenties. Keep in mind, however, that because Lulu’s specializes in current clothing, the quality is better than similar online retailers such as Boohoo or Missguided, but varies greatly depending on the piece. Most sizes are limited to XS to XL, without specific pieces for ladies who identify as petite, curvy, plus or any combination of the above. US shipping is free over $50, and return shipping is free within 10 days of delivery and $7 for up to 20 additional days. I’m a particularly large fan of their return policy, that gifts an additional $5 if you opt for store credit.

Outfit

That being said, I have scored several great pieces from Lulu’s in the past and I must say, that this dress does not disappoint. The fabric is light and airy making it perfect for warm fall days, and ripe for the layering as the weather begins to cool. I can imagine this dress will pair just as easily with OTK boots and a heavier coat. For now, this was a perfect for a sunny afternoon (which I hear folks in the south were getting plenty of) and I chose to pair it with this lightweight faux suede moto jacket for some added warmth in the evening. This jacket also layers well – you may recognize it from some recent Instagram posts – and the color makes it a fantastic statement piece. I’ve been coveting all things emerald this month, and this jacket is no exception. It’s under $100 and comes in 2 additional colors. I also took the liberty of linking several other affordable options that I love, including this brown beauty currently sitting in my cart. I hope you enjoyed this look as much as I enjoyed prancing about Boston Commons with my chai tea and best gal pal. Thanks for taking my pictures Claud!

Have a great week and as always, thanks for reading!

XOXO K

Hey ya’ll,

Recently, I took a four day mini-vacation down to St. Augustine, Florida. I can’t tell you how excited I was to see my mom, sister and best friend of 20 years! I was incredibly thrilled to serve as her maid of honor, and she couldn’t have picked a more stunning place to say her vows. Talk about #weddinggoals.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m sort of a Florida native. Having grown up in a city just outside of  Jacksonville for the better part of my childhood, it always feels like a bit of a homecoming whenever I get the chance to return. Florida is the source of my goofy (I think endearing is a more appropriate word) accent, some of my favorite memories, and authentic southern style cooking difficult to find in New England. Though nothing is ever as I remember it – it’s been over 15 years! – I wasn’t sad to find that included the incredibly manageable 45 minute drive to St. Augustine! My mom and I always thought St. Augustine was much further away, but we were happy to be proven wrong.

Ya’ll, this city is beautiful. We stayed at a hotel on Vilano beach and it was absolutely perfect. Bright and colorful spaces, warm sand, mesmerizing waters and clear blue skies.

In addition to it’s beauty, St. Augustine is one of the nation’s oldest cities, rich with a complex and compelling history. Unfortunately, we were so wiped out from my best friend’s wedding, that we only browsed the historic district from the car. What we did see, we loved so much that we vowed to return within the next year. (When you can, read up on it! There’s a lot to learn. For example, many articles this summer noted Simone Manuel’s Olympic wins were earned despite a deep, traumatic history of Black Americans and swim. This history includes a 1964 St. Augustine hotel owner who dumped acid into a pool when white and black protestors staged a swim-in to denounce the hotel’s whites-only policy.)

To be honest, I wanted to enjoy my time there, so with the exception of a few snaps to my Instastory (which regrettably I did not save), I spent most of my time just soaking up the views. Also, the forecast was for torrential downpours (Praise God there weren’t!), but I didn’t pack typical beach town wear, unless you consider yellow rain boots an 80°+ weather staple.

Thankfully, I do have plenty of pictures of my maid of honor dress, which I would highly recommend to anyone planning on taking a beach city vacation ever in your life. This jersey knit maxi was an all-around win; comfortable, versatile, and machine washable. It was elegant enough for the wedding, but casual enough to wear the next day on the beach. It’s available in a variety of colors and can also be worn in six different styles. C’mon, need I say more? It paired perfectly with the beautiful handmade jewelry that my bestie gifted to the bridal party. Much obliged to my mom and sister for being my photographers on this one. Rest assured, this is not an easy task.

Once again, thanks for reading and sharing this memory with me! Hope you enjoyed!

Marshall’s lace yoke dress that impersonated a top for the day (similar here – I also just ordered this bow-backed one), Boohoo grid print tulle midi skirt, ASOS heels (similar here, sandal version here), Lulu’s handbag (similar here), & Milani matte lipstick. I wore this to my sister’s college graduation last week from my alma mater and if you’re following me on Instagram, you’ll know that it was quite a special weekend for my family. I’m super appreciative that my little took the time out from this special day to snap some pics of her big sis. As usual I love looks that make me feel dainty and feminine, and since seeing Swan Lake a few weeks ago, I’d been looking for a reason to prance around in a tutu. Deciding to keep things short and sweet with this post, so here’s to hoping you enjoyed this look as much as I did. Have a great weekend!
